Doug Kushner is hired as a Project Scientist!
Doug has been a VIP (Very Important Postdoc) in the group for a number of years and was recently hired as a Materials Project Scientist/Engineer by the lab. We're so lucky Doug is staying with the group! He certainly earned the title of VIP over the years and will surely earn a new one in his new role.

Mayank hosting After School Science Hour 3/16
How is it that some kinds of light can pass through things without stopping? And how can scientists use this ability to see inside things like rocks, soils, and man-made materials at a microscopic level and understand their inner workings? This month we're joined by Dr. Mayank Sabharwal to talk about the fascinating power of x-rays and some of the ways that scientists use this super-powered light to do much more than look at broken bones.
Congratulations to the first years for passing preliminary exams!
Congrats to Sidd Rajupet and John Safipour!
Julie awarded Transport and Energy Processes Graduate Student Award at AIChE
Congratulations Julie!!
Welcome to Shiyi Wang, the lab's newest postdoc!
Shiyi earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her research during the PhD focused on obtaining atomic-level understating of critical interfacial processes on platinum using molecular modeling approaches, including electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction on platinum nanocatalysts and assembly of novel platinum nanostructures. In her free time, she likes driving in the mountains, playing baseball/softball, and building model kits.
Congratulations Grace, our newest PhD candidate
Congrats to Grace Anderson on passing her Qualifying Exam today!
Welcome to the new first years in the group!!
Sidd Rajupet will be working on experimental investigations of inks in M2FCT and H2NEW and John Safipour will be working on cell and integration studies related to CO2 reduction. Welcome to the group!
Goodbye Nem, we will miss you
Nem Danilovic has accepted a position as Director of Cell Development at Electric Hydrogen and his last day at the lab was on Friday, October 15th. Though we are all excited for him in this next move in his career, the lab is certainly feeling this loss. Best of luck in your next position Nem, we miss you already!
Congratulations to Julie for being awarded the WIC travel award from AIChE!
Julie won the Women in Chemical Engineering travel award for the upcoming AIChE conference which she will be attending virtually from November 15th-19th. Congrats again Julie!!
